It's Halloween!!

But you probably knew that already. And if you didn't, well...I don't know what to tell you...

To the rest of you,

Happy Halloween!!

If you have kiddos, you're lucky because you get to eat their candy. If you don't have kiddos, you're still lucky because you probably bought candy and you can snack on it all night. It's a wonderful time of the year.

So last Friday, Gorgeous and I went to the local theater for their haunted house. It's one of those old theaters with a balcony and box seating, so turning it into a haunted theater wasn't that difficult. The actors did a really great job, but I felt bad because I laughed all the way through it. For one, despite the fact the actors were hidden very well, I still managed to find them and I stared at them the whole time waiting for them to do their thing. Also, as anyone who read my scary story knows, I've been through some real stuff. The fake kind doesn't scare me anymore. Sorry, actors.

Gorgeous, on the other hand, did get surprised a few times. The zombie hidden between the seats was his favorite.

The best part of the evening, though, was when we stepped into the lobby and a bunch of people in costume started dancing to Thriller right outside the doors.

I didn't even think of taking a picture until a few seconds before the end, and then I ran out with my camera in hand. This was the best I could get because they literally finished two seconds after I took this.

We then drove to a farm where they have a haunted hayride every year, but after waiting in line for about fifteen minutes, and then noticing in the distance (beyond the labyrinth you have to walk through) another group of people waiting by a bonfire, we decided we were way too cold to be waiting all night to be pulled through the woods by a tractor.

So we left to pick up the kids and go home. It was a short night, but very fun.

Tonight, I'll be taking the kids out around the neighborhood with my sisters and their kids. My two little guys will be going as Carlisle and Edward Cullen (and I'll be Rosalie because...well...I'm gorgeous, duh! Hehehe! :P). There will be pictures later in the week.

Are any of you doing anything special for Halloween? Any haunted houses?

Oh, and because it just seems wrong to NOT include this, here's some info on WNY's most famous haunted house:

Also, a video:

And my favorite part from one of my favorite shows ever:

Ghost Facers from Supernatural (no, I cannot actually put it on here, but you should definitely click the link. It's worth it)

Have a great Halloween, everyone!

Pay It Forward, Baby!

The day is here! And I am SO excited.

I'm going to introduce you to three AMAZING bloggers who I think you'd enjoy following. Once you're done visiting them, you can check out the Linky List of everyone else participating in the blogfest and find even more people out there in the blogosphere!

I have a theme going on with my three choices and it is self-publishing! I don't think I've ever made it a secret that I think it is absolutely wonderful that authors now have practically unlimited choices in getting their books out there. Every avenue has its own difficulties, though, and I think it's particularly hard for self-pubbers to get exposure. So!  Here are some GREAT bloggers who have published their own wonderful books!

Check them out!

Kate Ellison @ The Southern Scrawl

Kate has two books out right now! I've read one of them (The Curse Girl) and have the other on my TBR list. She is an extremely talented writer with a very cute and hilarious blog. If you like humor with drawings, this is the blog for you. :)

Charlie Pulsipher @ Notice Your World

Yet another hilarious blog with pictures! (I think there might be another theme in all this ;) )

Charlie has recently published a sci-fi/fantasy mix called The Crystal Bridge. If you like dragons mixed with science, you might want to check this one out.

Guido Henkel @ Guido Henkel

If you like horror or need help in your self-publishing career, this is the blog to check out. Guido has published many of his own horror novels (Jason Dark Series) and spends much of his blogging time helping others. Definitely check him out.

For Those Who Love Blogging

I love blogging. I really do. I know it may seem like I don't based on my limited posting over the last few months, but I swear it's one of my favorite things to do.

I've met some amazing people through blogging and I've learned more about the publishing industry than I ever would have without this social media. I can honestly say I would never have been published had I not started blogging. It's true. Kate found out about my book because I'd commented on a post on her blog and she followed me back to mine.

And I'm positive others owe their success to blogging as well.

So if you're one of those people who LOVES blogging (maybe you've been doing it for years, or maybe you're just starting out), I have a blogfest to tell you about.

The rules are simple. You sign up on the linky-do and blog this Friday, listing three blogs you absolutely love and would love other people to know about.

Pay it forward and show some love.  I know I will!

Starcrossed, by Josephine Angelini

First, I just want to say I know I've been a very bad blogger lately. I keep starting the week with the idea that I'll post MWF, but it doesn't ever work out. At the very least, I've decided I'm going to devote some time to visiting some of my favorite blogs again. Hopefully, when the first draft writing phase is over, I'll have a bit more time to blog like I used to. Also, I am most definitely planning on doing something to celebrate hitting 300 followers. It will happen soon! :)

Now, enjoy the book trailer for Starcrossed, by Josephine Angelini!!

My Thoughts:

I like the music, but some of the pictures were a little cheesy. The story sounded intriguing, though. I would probably be more likely to pick it up now than I was before I saw the trailer. However, I don't think it's one of those trailers that makes me go "I must buy this NOW!!!"

What about you, dear readers? Did this trailer work for you?

Silence Book Trailer--A Review

It's been a while and I wanted to get back into reviewing book trailers, so I thought today would be a good day to start doing it again. Why? Because the third book in one of my all time favorite series is coming out tomorrow!!  Yes, I am VERY excited.

I love me some Patch.

But first! Did you see that I hit 300 followers?? I feel like I should celebrate in some way. What do you guys think? Should I do a giveaway or another blogfest/contest with amazing prizes?

Let us ponder on this while we watch the trailer for Silence, by Becca Fitzpatrick.

From (you must click this link because it's being shown exclusively through

Don't forget to come back here for the review, though. :)

From Goodreads:

The noise between Patch and Nora is gone. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced heart-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for—and their love—forever

My Thoughts:

All the trailers have been essentially the same. There's the same feather falling from the sky and the same music. And to be honest, I like the continuity. When watching them consecutively, the tension increases and you really get a good idea of what the relationship between Patch and Nora is all about. Plus, the music is great and I don't think anyone can watch this trailer and NOT know it's about a fallen angel falling in love with a girl.

That being said, I don't know if I like seeing Patch and Nora's faces. They'd always been pretty hidden in the previous two trailers and they don't really look like how I'd always pictured them, so it's kind of disappointing. Of course, they could also look exactly how someone else pictured them because this stuff is all very subjective. But for me, it's disappointing.

What do you guys think? If you'd never read the Hush, Hush series before, would you pick up the first book today based on this trailer? Or if you'd read the first two books and weren't blown away enough to really be anticipating the third one, would you change your mind after seeing this?
