Today is the day for the Gearing Up to Get an Agent Meet and Greet! I'll also be participating in this while I do my month of reviews of books from BEA. If you're a visitor, I hope you enjoy your time here. I have tea and crumpets. :)
-Where do you write?
In a little nook off my living room, on a cute white, shabby chic table.
-Quick. Go to your writing space, sit down and look to your left. What is the first thing you see?
A framed poem my grandfather bought for me for Christmas many years ago.
-Favorite time to write?
During my children's nap. It's the only time I can get anything done. LOL!
-Drink of choice while writing?
I LOVE tea. I like to switch it up between my tranquil dream, tiramisu treviso, and hibiscus tea.
-When writing , do you listen to music or do you need complete silence?
Music! I have a few different playlists, depending on what I'm writing. For my Auri series, I listen to a LOT of Linkin Park and Rolling in the Deep, by Adele. My songs of choice for my WIP, ALMOST NIGHT are Hurt, by Johnny Cash and Hey Soul Sister, by Train.
-What was your inspiration for your latest manuscript and where did you find it?
This:
-What's your most valuable writing tip?
Have a great GUTGAA, everyone! I can't wait to meet all of you! :)
Great advice to just keep writing. Looking forward to your BEA reviews.
ReplyDeleteThat is probably the cutest nook EVER. It's a room that definitely screams "I'm a writer. Please fetch me my tea, Nigel."
ReplyDeleteHehehe! Yes, I love my nook. And boy do I wish I had a Nigel! That would be the best!
DeleteAwww! That little desk is so cute. Also, YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY on 10th Kingdom! I LOVE THAT SHOW! And just like that i want to stick in my DVDs and watch it all over again
ReplyDeleteI Emily--I popped over her from Sarah Ahiers' blog. I love the 10th Kingdom video--totally cool. I've never read space opera...I'll have to give elemental a look :-) I write romance, contemporary and historical. Write on!
ReplyDeleteHi, Amy! Thanks for stopping by. You've never read a space opera?? How have you lived?? :P
DeleteThat is a very eclectic playlist! :) And what a precious writing space! I love shabby chic!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how I haven't been following your blog this whole time! I have rectified that now - great to meet you, Emily! :D
ReplyDeleteYour writing space looks so serene! It's wonderful. Mine is much more cluttered than that, though I try to sweep it up from time to time.
ReplyDeleteI, too, used to write a lot during nap time. But my 3-year-old is now fighting against the naps, which is why I wake so early. Blergh. It's annoying, for sure, but a necessary adjustment.
Best of luck with the GUTGAA festivities!
Hey Emily! Love your writing nook! I wish I could write to music but it just distracts me too much.
ReplyDeleteSee ya round the GUTGAA!! :D
Your musical taste varies about as much as mine! I like your writing nook
ReplyDeleteOh, I like your writing corner. Looks like it'd be a great place to sit and read too.
ReplyDeleteGreat page you have here, Emily, I love the Batman banner.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my page, and have a great day.
Best wishes,
Wayne
Ahhh, The 10th Kingdom! I was a total fan-girl for that mini-series when it first aired. I need to watch it again... Based on that, I think I would probably like your manuscript. :)
ReplyDeleteOhmygoodness, that room is so adorable! It says 'writing' all over it :)
ReplyDeleteThat room looks a bit like the one in my head that I'm hoping is in my house soon. :)
ReplyDeleteYour novels sound fantastic. Who knew this blog hop was going to increase my TBR pile :)

Hi Emily

Firstly, I love the look of your blog and your writing space is divine. Best of luck over GUTGAA and thanks for the encouragement, I can't wait to self publish, it just feels like its my achievement alone lol, Cheers Julie
That is such a cute writing space! Love it.
ReplyDeletei think i knew ALL of that... except the poem from your granddaddy!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you, your writing space is adorable, looks very comfy =)
ReplyDeleteI adore the 10th Kingdom!!! And I totally agree about Johnny Cash's "Hurt." I've used that for inspiration on one of my WIPs too.
ReplyDeleteHi. I am making my meet and greet rounds. It is nice to meet you. I love your blog design. It is so full of character. Thanks for the writing tip. I adore your shabby chic writing space.
ReplyDeleteI drink absinthe when writing. There's no way I can listen to music with lyrics when writing; the voices start singing along. I'll take my crumpet with Nutella, please. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteNap time is so sacred. And your inspiration video is great. You really could do a lot with that. Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteNice video! I adored nap time and wish they still existed in my house... ah well. Nice to meet you and good luck GUTGAA'ing!
ReplyDeleteLoved the visuals. So much fun. Nice to meet you and good luck with GUTGAA. Stop by and say hello if you get the chance. http://anjeasandro.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteHello, Angie! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteSaying hello from GUTGAA! Those are some pretty-sounding teas you've listed. I too am a tea person. Your living room is so neat! I have kid stuff everywhere in mine. =)
ReplyDeleteHello! Thanks for stopping by. :) My all time favorite tea store is Teavana. If you haven't heard of it, you need to google it. They have all loose leaf teas, and they are delicious!
DeleteHow cool, have fun, Emily!

ReplyDeleteMy Meet and Greet Post
Hi Emily!! Checking in from GUTGAA ~ :) I have to say - you've got great musical taste. I LOVE the new Linkin Park song ~ so...ethereal. :)
ReplyDelete"What's your most valuable writing tip?"
ReplyDelete"Just keep doing it. No matter what happens, just write."
I agree that that is the best writing tip, at least it is for me because I procrastinate far too much. I also worry that I'm not good enough. I just have to get the writing finished and worry about how good it is after it is completed.
Thanks for a grat blog. :)
typo
Deletegrat should be great
Nice to meet you! Just keep writing is great advice! Your blog is beautiful by the way.
