Moving Forward After A Debut Release

For those interested:

FAE, #2 in the Elemental Trilogy, is now up on Goodreads!

Big things are happening over the next few weeks (and hopefully months).

1. I'm going to BEA in NYC next month! AND I'll be signing copies of Elemental at the Spencer Hill Press booth (#4447) from 10:00-11:00am on June 6th!

2. Vic Caswell of Sketcher Girl Studios and I have a new project! The first Pod People podcast will be out next Friday (the 18th)! Be sure to follow the blog and/or like our new facebook fan page! We'll be talking about all things YA, including but not limited to YA boys, girls, self-publishing, everything! It's going to be great fun. You do NOT want to miss it.

3. Ideas?

I'm thinking of applying to some conventions and setting up local book signings. Thoughts and/or other ideas? I have to admit, I'm kind of at a loss. I've spent so many years just trying to get published, that now I can't figure out the next step.

I need your help!! What sorts of things have you seen authors do that you really liked?

  1. I'm so bummed that I don't live in the US and miss all those great things! Any chances you can come & do a signing here in London? Me & Silvia would LOVE to organize one for you!! :)

  2. I have no ideas...like you, I've spent years trying to get published and have just been squirreling away bookmarks for sites that talk about marketing. You could do a Google search? People do giveaways...blog tours...contests...signings...author visits. Good luck, Em!

  3. I think you should get custom lighters to give out. And they should say "Property of Manoo"

  4. I'm not sure if you'll find this helpful or not, but my blogging friend Nicole just finished up a 3-part series on developing a book launch. Maybe you'll find something in one of those posts?

    Good luck!

  5. Do you think SHP will get you down to Dragon*Con this year? Please?!

Also, get that GFC widget up so I can be the first official follower of Pod People.

  6. I think you should buy a plane ticket, come to my house, and do a personal book signing and happy dance for me. I love it when authors do that. ;)

  8. I think you're doing a great job at the moment. Enjoy this moment! If you want to set up some book signings, you can always reach out to local bookstores and libraries. Notify school librarians as well to get the word out about your novel. Good luck!

  11. Your author help yay too much!!!: take long showers to help you think more ( usually a good place to daydream or makeup stories that just come.)
Do fun giveaways! Create bookmarks and whatever else that could have anything to do with you! Enjoy life outside of the publishing scenes and do some adventure to get ideas for a fun story to add to the set! ;)
