A is For Atlantis, The Stargate Variety

Is it April already??

I've been doing the A-Z Challenge since its inception and I'm super excited to be doing it yet another year! Welcome to those new to the Challenge as well as veterans!

If you're wondering what the heck I'm talking about, I suggest you get with it. This is like the biggest thing in the blogging world. :P

The linky list for all participants is HUGE, so I won't be including it here. But I will give you the link to get back to it with ease.

This year, I'll be giving you readers a look into what makes me tick. You should be scared. No one should be subjected to this. ;)

I love movies. I love speculative fiction (heck, I write it). And I REALLY love the fantastical, awkward, and slightly weird.

This show right here got my creative juices flowing like few have. I obsessively rewatched the entire series the moment it came out on Netflix. Fantasy with sci-fi?? Yes please!!

A floating city that literally rises out of the ocean!

Pretty much the best cast of characters ever.

So what's your favorite tv show or movie? What gets your creative juices flowing?

  1. My favorite spec fic tv shows are Firefly and Babylon 5, though my husband and I finally started watching Once Upon a Time and are getting really hooked on it. We started back at the beginning and haven't looked up a single thing on it because we don't want any spoilers. Pretty good stuff.

    1. Oh man, Jaleh, you are going to be mad at me (and rightly so), but I have never been able to get into Firefly. I LOVED Serenity, but I just can't get past the first episode (which really didn't do it for me).

But Once Upon a Time?? Yes!! In fact, I will definitely be talking about it this month.

    2. *dramatic gasp* But, but, "A Train Job" is the epitome of SF Western. And it's Nathan Fillion, and Adam Baldwin, and several other awesome people. *sigh* I suppose I can forgive you, though you ought to give it another go sometime. Watch them in correct order though, not the screwed up aired time sequence. (Train Job is actually not the first episode, it's after Serenity parts 1 and 2 which weren't aired until several months later.) *grumble, grumble, Fox*

And I'm afraid to read your upcoming post. *la la la I don't hear anything. I don't want to know.* (Except maybe what is the current season. Is it 2 or 3?)

  2. Atlantis is a cool subject! There are so many theories about the 'real' Atlantis. Those surely get my creative juices flowing. I'm with Jaleh; I really enjoyed Firefly while it aired.

    1. Oh, agreed! I love researching all the different theories surrounding Atlantis. And I have such a hankering for writing my own story.

  3. Hubby and I watched the whole of Stargate SG1 and now we're into Atlantis. I'll be showing my age here... I still love the original Star Trek.

    1. The whole Stargate franchise is amazing (though Stargate Universe was a little weird). And yes to original Star Trek!! Great show!

  6. Doctor Who. All the way. Classic and modern. Any time. I've not watched Stargate: Atlantis, but then TV series are like books: there are way too many of them, so I'm bound to miss out on at least some of the good ones. :)

All the best with the A-to-Z Challenge, Emily. Nice to meet you. :)

    1. Oh yes, Farscape is definitely a good pick. You gotta love sci-fi with muppets. :)

  9. I'm a newbie with A-Z and I've been blogging for almost two years. Crazy right?!

I'm OBSESSED (and I do mean obsessed) with American Horror Story. It's a fantastic show! Great theme and awesome start to A-Z :)

I haven't gotten a chance to see that one yet. I was warned by a friend that I wouldn't like it, but I might try it out someday.

  10. Great topic! I hardly have time to get into any series properly now, but I used to watch the X-Files religiously. (Yeah, I'm out of touch.)

  11. Emily, good post. I like everything strange and full of speculation. I feel it motive's my brain. Supernatural, Grimm, Stargate, etc.. This is my first year with the A to Z Challenge hoping I make it to Z.

  12. Hi, popping by from A to Z. I saw the first Stargate film but never really got into the series. One of my A to Z challenges is about Supernatural/Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV shows and I started today with Angel, but I love enough TV to last a whole challenge so I won't name them all here.

Hope you have fun with the challenge again.

  13. Haven't seen this series yet, but my husband and I are huge star trek fans! Thanks for the recommendation. I'm a new follower and this is my first a-z. Just stopping by to say hi.

  14. I loved Stargate Atlantis! Dr. Rodney McKay was my favorite. He always cracked me up. I was sad when they canceled it. It was so much better than Stargate Universe.

  15. Always loved the X-Files. I'm watching it again on DVD.

  16. I used to watch Stargate but never watched it religiously. I've thought about rewatching the series from the start but right now I'm rewatching the original Star Trek series. Just started season 2.

  17. I've never watched Stargate, but I guess I should. Bookboy, my assistant, has been trying to get me to watch it for ages. I only watch Doctor Who and whatever my six year old subjects me to. (Okay, I may or may not secretly love cartoons.)
